My dream is to become a full-time writer. I’ve taken writing classes here and there and participate in writing groups found on meet up. Participating in these groups allows me to meet writers and be exposed to all genres.
I’ve written drafts for a few children’s books many moons ago. I self-published a picture book I wrote for my oldest son, A Childlike Faith. I had wanted to buy him a book one day that had people that looked like him and could not find one. I remember being so frustrated. That evening I wrote this book for him to teach him the lesson of faith. I have a confession, at times I read this book to remind myself how easy it can be to find this virtue. This was my first accomplishment as a writer.
I also enjoy poetry and now I have entered into the blogosphere. I am excited to push the bounds of my creativity. I believe I inherit my talent from my mom, she writes beautiful poetry.
I love being able to paint pictures with words. Love Jones is my favorite movie. I inhale contemporary fiction from authors like Bernice McFadden, Diane McKinney-Whetstone and J.D. Mason. My plan is to begin a journey of my own words and follow it to the end. I’m hoping to be joined by many readers that will help me grow.
We write for the same reason that we wal, talk, climb mountains or swim the oceans – becasue we can. We have some impulse within us that makes us want to explain ourselves to other human beings. That’s why we paint, that’s why we dare to love someone – because we have the impulse to explain who we are. – Maya Angelou
